What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a medical condition defined by the body's inability to properly process the glucose (sugar) in the blood. In diabetics the high level of blood sugar can lead to various health problems. There are two types of diabetes: Type-I, or juvenile diabetes, is often diagnosed early on and requires regular insulin injections and monitoring of blood sugar. Type-II, sometimes called, adult onset diabetes, is often diagnosed later in life. Monitoring of blood sugar and proper diet are important in treatment.

What causes Diabetes?

It is believed many factors may contribute to the diagnosis of Type-I diabetes - exposure to various toxins or bacteria in early developmental, stages, early breakdown of immune system, or genetics. Type-II diabetes is thought to be caused by the body's gradual inability to use insulin. Prolonged inactivity, obesity, and age are common factors in the increasing risk of onset diabetes.
